8 is Enough, Scott Hawley Rides 8 Birdies to Victory

Hernan Rey finishes second, gains ground in Q-School Contest 1 with 6 events left!

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Scott Hawley of Shrewsbury, Mass., fired a six under par 65 Monday at Ocean Breeze Golf Club for his third Minor League Golf Tour victory, his second this month. Hawley made four birdies and a bogey on each nine to edge Hernan Rey of Argentina by a shot. Rey made seven birdies, five on the inward nine, and two bogeys for 66.

Hawley was the winner at Hammock Creek in Palm City on May 6 and scored his first MLGT victory April 2, 2008, here at Ocean Breeze. He earned $600 from the $3,075 purse Monday.

Marvin King was third with 4-under par 67 followed by Eddie Peckels in fourth with 68.  Brett Bergeron, Jimmy Lytle, and Rolf Muntz tied for fifth at 2-under par 69

Adams Golf Pro Tour Series
One of the most prestigious events on the Adams Series is the Merrill Lynch Open in Baton Rouge. This year, the tournament is featured as the Series Mid-Season Championship with a purse of $125,000. This years winner will take home $20,000 for the win.

The Adams Series management is encouraging members to register early as the field is filling quicker than expected.

Florida Professional Golf Tour Ocala, Florida
Former PGA Tour member and Heathrow resident Danny Ellis fired a final round 67  to capture the 2009 Ocala Open Championship. Ellis had rounds of 70-66-65-67 for a 4-day total of 268 (20 under par) on the 7333 yard Candler Hills Golf Club lay-out to win by 3 strokes over Nick Lindheim of Melbourne, FL.Saturdays final round was plagued by strong winds, gusting at times to 40 miles per hour. This was Danny's first FPGTour victory, earning him a check for $20,000 from the $107,000.00 purse.
